Charles Kingsley

A professor, historian, and author, Charles Kingsley was born in 1913. He was the son of a vicar and deeply concerned about the working class. After publishing several articles and a novel about the topic, he decided to write children’s literature. He is most well-known for his novel The Water Babies, but also wrote a collection of Greek myths called The Heroes, or Greek Stories for My Children. These stories cover the legends and exploits of the most famous Greek heroes including Jason, Perseus, and others.
