Chinese Folk-lore Tales
Chinese Folk-lore Tales was published in 1910 by Macmillan and Co., Limited, London, and edited by Andrew Lang, a noted fairy tale expert who wrote the Rainbow Fairy series of books. Authored by Rev. John Macgowan, Chinese Folk-lore Tales features 11 tales no doubt gathered by Macgowan, who was a missionary in China. Macgowan authored multiple books about China including A History of China from the Earliest Days Down to the Present, and Men and Manners of Modern China. Reverend Macgowan lived in China for more than 30 years, and was part of the London Missionary. During his stay in China, he learned thoroughly about the land and its people, cataloging many of these accounts in books.
