Edmund Martin Geldart
Edmund Martin Geldart was born at Norwich on January 24, 1844 and was a Unitarian minister. After graduating in 1867, he was an assistant-master at Manchester, but was forced to leave citing health concerns. He instead traveled to Athens, Greece, where he worked as a teacher and left with an appreciation and knowledge of the Greek culture. This interest led him to write a collection of Greek folk tales entitled Folk-Lore of Modern Greece: The Tales of the People, which is noted for its Greek version of Cinderella.
