J. F. Campbell
J.F. Campbell, also known as John Francis Campbell or Young John of Islay, was a Scottish author. He was born December 29, 1821 in Islay. Campbell had a keen interest in Celtic studies and was a known authority of Celtic folklore. He published four volumes of Popular Tales of the West Highlands, collections of Celtic and Gaelic folk tales. He gained a lot of his knowledge on the Highlands by traveling around, hearing stories and recording the culture he experienced. He died February 17, 1885, leaving behind a wealth of knowledge for Scottish folk tales and Celtic folklore.
