Rev. Charles Swynnerton
Rev. Charles Swynnerton was the Senior Chaplain to the Indian Government, and was also an author of two books of folklore. One such collection of stories for children was “Indian Night’s Entertainment, or Folktales from the Upper Indus.” The stories within come from India and Pakistan and the book was dedicated (with her permission) to “Her Most Gracious Majesty, Queen Victoria, Empress of India.” Rev. Swynnerton spent years collecting folklore from India, and often sat by the fire listening to storytellers. He also authored Romantic tales from the Punjab. Both of his books did very well.
