Sanni Metelerkamp
Born in 1867, Sanni Metelerkamp was an author and playwright. She was the great-granddaughter of George Rex, who founded the town of Knysna, South Africa, and even wrote his biography, George Rex of Knysna: The Authentic Story. Her only collection of folklore, Outa Karel’s Stories: South African Folk-Lore Tales, features tales of animals and more. In the preface, she writes about how these folk tales are commonly known by all children in the region, and she shared them because they weren’t told by firelight any more, and needed to preserved. She passed away in 1945.
