Andrew Lang (1844–1912) was a Scottish writer and literary critic best known for his Colour Fairy Books - a series of 12 anthologies published between 1889 and 1910. Beginning with The Blue Fairy Book, the series gathered fairy tales and folk stories from around the world, drawing on Grimm, Andersen, and many lesser-known traditions. The Colour Fairy Books introduced generations of readers to a wider range of fairy tale traditions than any collection before them.
